3-Inch Liquid-Dominated Flow Loop

The 3-inch liquid-dominated flows experimental facility (Figure 6) is also a multipurpose experimental facility, where different configurations of elbows in series can be applied as well as different geometries. The loop can handle superficial liquid velocities up to 5.5 m/s (18 ft/s) (when working with the liquid-sand flow), solids concentration up to 5 vol\% (50,000 PPM), and superficial gas velocities up to 10 m/s (32.8 ft/s) in multiphase flows. The facility was designed in such a way that it can accommodate both horizontal and vertical flows. The straight 3-inch pipe section is approximately 6 m (19.7 ft) long.
