Ultrasonic Transducer

Ultrasonic Transducer

Ultrasonic transducers (UT) for wall thickness measurements are specialized devices used to gauge the thickness of solid materials, particularly in industrial settings. These transducers emit high-frequency sound waves into the material, which then reflect back from the opposite surface. By measuring the time taken for the echoes to return, the transducer can calculate the material's thickness. This technique is widely applied in industries like manufacturing, construction, and maintenance to ensure structural integrity and detect any potential corrosion or wear. Ultrasonic wall thickness measurement transducers provide accurate and non-destructive insights into material thickness, helping to maintain safety and quality standards.
At E/CRC a hand-held portable device from Dakota and a fixed mounted device from Conoco Phillips are available for the projects, and they are presented in Figure 12.
